Hair soap at dm, Rossmann, Budni – you can buy it anywhere. But is soap actually good for your hair? An experienced hairdresser put hair soap to the test and immediately replaced his salon “Apel-Remmen” in Cologne’s range with handmade hair soaps. Owner Florian shares his experiences with us.

 

Florian, you dared to run the “Hair Soap Test” with your clients in the salon. What are your findings?

F: “We’ve had great experiences with hair soap. Most people think it’s really cool to have only a single bar of soap in the bathroom and thus generate less plastic waste. 85% stick with it long-term. The 15% who don’t continue simply weren’t happy with their hair or didn’t have the patience to master the switch to soap.

My absolute favorite soaps come from therefore beauty, because this brand consistently addresses the needs of different hair types.”

What made you, as a hairdresser, decide to work with hair soaps?

F: “We focus on hair structure and type in our clients. We don’t want you to look good just for a quick salon moment, but to enjoy easy and pleasant hair care long-term. With hair soap, you don’t see immediately the results you’re used to from shampoo. Switching to soap requires solid tips for the transition phase, and only after a few washes will the hair soap reveal its great effects. Most of our clients come back with truly beautiful results and are very grateful!”
